Stonybrook ConnemarasThe
Connemara Pony
Stonybrook stallion *Canal Laurinston
was imported from Ireland in 1991. Chip
had just won the Galway Breeders
Show Yearling Class and was pinned second
in the Yearling Class at the renowned
Clifden Show. (At the Clifden shows,
there are usually 30, or more, individuals
in every class!). Following eight months
of correspondence with his breeder prior
to the '91 Clifden Show, and because
of his "power house" mare line,
Chip was purchased by Stonybrook Connemaras,
Napa, California.
Chip,
born in 1990, is greying slowly. His
sire is a handsome blood bay, no white
marks, and as a result of solid colors
in his background, Chip has sired every
color except appaloosa. Inspected
and approved in 1995, with very high
marks. Chip is 14.3+, shod. He has
been successful in open competition,
always competing against horses.
Lee Webster, started Chip in Texas
in 1993 while studying for her MBA. Chip
has done well in every discipline to
which he has been introduced. He has
participated in Eventing through Training
Level, Dressage through Fourth Level,
including CDS Year-End Championships
at Third Level, Foxhunting, Hunter/Jumper,
Driving and Western Pleasure. He has
been Supreme Breed Champion In Hand on
four occasions at the annual West Coast
Connemara Show. He is a beautiful mover
and a superior athlete.
Chip is quite elegant and exhibits many
commendable Connemara characteristics!
In 2000, at the West Coast Connemara Show, Chip won the Connemara Stallion All Around Perpetual Trophy and the High Point Purebred Connemara Perpetual Trophy, as well as winning the Reserve Champion Dressage ribbon and the Regular Working Hunter Championship! Two of his get won top honors in performance; a halfbred gelding son won the Prospect Division Championship, and a purebred gelding son from the Seattle area won the Prospect Division Reserve Championship!
In 2001, Chip won both of his dressage tests and won the Open Jumper Class--he also placed well in the driving classes and was third in the Western Pleasure Class.
In 2002, Chip won the West Coast Connemara
Show Breed Classic Supreme Championship
for the fourth time. He and Lee also
won the perpetual trophy for High Point
Horse/Rider Combination.
In 2006, Chip was honored with the ACPS "Hall of Fame " An Tostal Trophy, recognizing his 15-year performance career participating in six disciplines!
